Question: Why do atheists say that religion must be a private matter?

We christians and muslims are commanded to bring our religions out of the homes, mosques and churches, we are called to preach to all people, this cannot be done if our religion is private. i tell you people that as long as i and many other people believe in god our religion will not be private.

That is not what we mean by private. Of course you should have freedom of speech and freedom to do whatever you want with a building you purchased but we just want it out of politics.

Because we don't want to hear about it. You don't want to hear about atheism right? My mom is very religious but has always said that religion is a personal thing between her and god. Why can't everyone believe that?

How come every time I push a religious person over the edge into reason and rationality they automatically shut down and close their mind and tell me that I should keep MY non-belief to myself? That is the problem with religion... it requires its followers to "spread " the word. It is the means by which it can be spread that can be interpreted to mean too many different things (i.e. good and bad). As long you as your religion requires you to do that - you should have no problem with any other beliefs doing the same (i.e. Atheist billboards, JW door to door knocking, cold calls, etc.).

It is! its upto the individual whether they want to or not. Its not like tax where evryone has to pay it
