http:/ / www.cbn.com/ cbnnews/ politics/ 2010/ February/ White- House- Gives- Ear- to- Secularist- Group/ Many people and groups try to get in to see the President of the United States but, Few actually get in ! It doesn't upset me ! It confirms what I already Know. Agreed, I suspect no Policies will come out of such a meeting and the Pres has not been acknowledged as being there. I just find this administrations daily doings suspect ! http:/ / www.commondreams.org/ headline/ 2010/ 02/ 26- 6

If these are the types of things that are going to be addressed then great! "Coalition members plan to use Friday's meeting to advocate closing federal loopholes in the law that governs medical neglect. They say that officials in any state should be able to remove sick children who need medical treatment from homes in which parents believe in faith healing as easily as they could intervene on behalf of other children. " commondreams.org/ headline/ 2010/ 02/ 26-6 see, in my town there is a small church that believes in faith healing. they will let a child die rather than give them an insulin shot. they have been the center of much controversy in the past few years. i also think this could save the lives of children who were involved in car accidents and their parents will not allow blood transfusion. think? if the purpose of this meeting in any way is to take away basic rights of christians and other believers such as public praying, the pledge of allegience (one nation under God) or anything of the like Obama is setting himself up for trouble. we can all whine and cry how christians are taking away the rights of everyone else. but guess what? you don't have to say "under God " and you don't have to use paper money, go out and get yourself a prepaid card or use a debit card. we have atheists in my town that have stomped all over the rights of people to privately pray before a city council meeting. that is taking away a basic right of the general public. but if the purpose of the meeting is to help the helpless in christian organizations, then we might be the better for it. but it is a very fine line, so i guess we will see what kinds of things may come from this. hopefully Obama is acutely aware of that line and does not cross it.

Obama understands that nonbelievers are people, too. I think this is a huge step forward for secularly-minded people in America.

Secular = / = anti-religious.

Any sources for this claim or do you just expect me to take your word for it?

Wait, I thought he was a closeted Muslim. Now he is anti-religious? Gotta love Fox News.

To change America for the worse.

I don't think all atheists are -anti-religious-, just as not all Christians are anti-Jewish. Obama met with them because they are also Americans and they also have rights, so their positions and thoughts should be heard. Do you think 'freedom of religion' is only for people of YOUR religion?

Because he is inclusive. More inclusive to them than to Christian groups though. Also, I have heard that he keeps his friends close and his enemies closer (in some respects).

He met with Athiests for the same reason he meets with all other groups. They are Americans and Voters.

Posted by: Eye Am on 2010-02-27, 10:38:33

He didn't. The fact that you haven't bothered to mention the name of the group or when this supposedly took place is enough to tell me that the story is bull shit originating from the right.

Yes because religion has oh so much to do with fixing the economy or being a good president. Man, IDK if he is not a christian god might make the dollar bill worthless out of spite.....

Do you think only religious people have the right to talk with the President of the U.S.? Do you understand the concept of separation of Church and State and the Constitutional right for the Government will not establish a state religion? Presidents have meet with religious and non-religious organizations through the history of the U.S. and rightfully so. No one group deserves more or less rights than anyone else in this country.

They aren't anti-religious. They promote the same luciferic, anti-Jesus agenda he does.

Because Obama is a Satan worshiping homo

These "anti- religious groups " you speak of are groups for secularism. In other words it's for the government to stay out of religious affairs formally. The name of the main group is The Secular Coalition for America. the Catholic League doesn't know why, but they sure are worried about it... "It is important that the public learn of the contents of this meeting. We will do what we can to find out what happened. " They label the article, "Meeting with Anti-Religious Zealots " which is pretty misleading since they go on to give nothing but opinion in the rest of the article and they claim atheist for attacking Christians all the time, but actually atheists (well, most) do nothing but defend. Look at the headline for crying out loud. Here is another article by the Christian News Wire, who has no idea why the meeting is taking place, yet bash the Secular Group all throughout their articles (like good christian's should haha), and make false claims and opinions as to why the meeting is taking place. again keep in mind that the government is secular, and that governments all over the world meet with religious leaders in private and in public all the time. But this time, I quote from the Christian News Wire; "The fact that this meeting is happening at all is an affront to the vast majority of people of all faiths who believe in God. " Ahhh just smell the fear and hypocrisy. Smells kind of like bacon. anyway, there is a ton of other similar articles from similar Christian groups that say the same thing and nonoe of them seem to know why the meeting took place as of right now. not that I can find anyway. But here is one article that does seem to know, and they share it in a civilized and grown up manner. Here are some quotes from the article, the link is posted below; "The president isn't expected to make an appearance at the meeting with the Secular Coalition for America or to unveil any new policy as a result of it. " and "Coalition leaders are billing their visit as an important meeting between a presidential administration and the "non-theist " community. On the agenda are three policy areas: child medical neglect, military proselytizing and faith-based initiatives. " I hope that answers the question, looks like Obama himself didn't even show up.

It's a big political ploy to show religious tolerance as he has been trying to placate the Terrorists. Which are Islamic radicals and are not tolerant of any religion or non religion. The president needs to face the fact that they don't care what he tries or believes, they want complete Islamic rule and they will not rest until that is complete. By demonstrating he has tolerance towards any and all religions, he wishes to win the hearts and minds of the Middle eastern mind set. That's just not going to happen.

Obama was a member of that Chicago church because it was a political activist church who's founder founded it on Black Liberation Theology whose roots at in Marxism. He's shown he is not really a Christian because he doesn't show fruits of one. He does not believe in the inerrancy of scripture. He hasn't attended church since he started campaigning for president until present. He claimed Jesus taught gay rights in the Sermon on the mount. His first act as president was to lift an executive ban on funding foreign organizations that conducted abortions. He seems to be a lot more respectful to Islam than to Christianity, some of which is seen in his anti-Israeli stance in Palestinian issues. So, I think he should meet more often with anti-religious groups because he shares a comradery with thim, particularly when it comes to Christianity.
