With the proper support and training, people with badly broken bodies can do amazing things. I think a very famous example of this is Stephen Hawking. If you didn't know who he was and saw him on the street, you'd think he was a vegetable and he's not. He's absolutely a brilliant mind - one of the most brilliant theoretical physicists ever to grace the earth. (That's HUGE coming from me, btw. I'm a Michio Kaku fan - he's another theoretical physicist) With support from people around him in the form of his personal attendant and the aid of technology, he's able to communicate and communicate very well. That's key to all human endeavors and the need to communicate with other people is so ingrained in all of us, it's even a major part of human happiness. No matter how difficult it may be, when you give a person the chance to communicate and interact with other people, they'll do it if they are given the proper tools and support. Oh, and you should read her biography, yes. She didn't always have the support that enabled her to do the things she later did.

She had a little time, early in life before being afflicted Anne Sullivan helped, a lot The Keller family was apparently rather well-off.

Yes, helen keller was a fraud. the young child could actually see and hear quite well, and was just trying to get attention via her crafty ruse.

Helen Adams Keller was not a fraud. PWDs can do incredible remarkable things providing they have the proper support and the proper training.

Helen Keller was not mute, she spoke - and spoke very eloquently. Helen Keller was no ordinary woman - she was a brilliant woman. Few people on earth could accomplish what she did. She accomplished what she did through having a very strong will and tremendous drive and determination. She lived during a time in this country of vast change and was working in the midst of it. She can be credited with being a part of the passage of the civil rights law allowing blacks and women to vote. In her lifetime she knew so many amazing people that she had opportunities to network and exchange ideas with the brightest minds of the century.

EDUCATION and COMMUNICATION are the keys here! When she was a child she had no way of communicating. She herself described it as being imprisoned with no where to go and no way to express herself, besides throwing violent and thrashing fits. When Annie Sullivan came along and began her work with Helen, a light breached the darkness. Annie Sullivan was offering Helen something she had never been offered before. The opportunity to learn and the ability to communicate and be heard. It is through this development of communication and her AMAZING and UNCANNY drive to want to learn and overcome her circumstance that Helen Keller was able to do what she did! She is the epitome of what the Human Spirit is capable of doing with enough passion!

Helen Keller was also a socialist who also believed in eugenics as well. She hated her life as a disabled person.
