Question: Scammer will have my address after recieving scammed parcel, would he try to send me a fraud cheque?

So I was recently a victim of the old 419 scam, stupid but whatever I fell for it. I got off easy actually, I was just scammed out of my item I was trying to sell. It's not a huge problem. The only thing is, I'm afraid that once the scammer recieves the parcel (if post office cant stop it) he'd also have my name and address which I had to fill out at post office in order to ship my package. The last email he sent me was : "You will recieve your money, trust me. " After that I cut off contact with him and deleted and blocked his email. But i'm worried that after he gets the scammed item that I sent off, quite stupidly so, he'd try to send me a fraud cheque or something. Is it possible? I don't want anymore trouble with this, just want to move on from it and remember this as hard lesson. I don't want to be sent any fraud cheques or be left with holding bags. What are the possibilities that he'd try to use my address (usually parcels mailed have the sender's address in the return address area) and send me fraud cheques? |

Well yes, if he had the information to send you a real check, then he has the information to send you a fake check as well. I don't quite know why he'd do that. I can see defrauding you out of the item, there's a profit motive there, but what's in it for him to send you a fake check? Actually, that would be a stupid thing to do. Police might not care much about some random mail-order scam, but when you start mixing in banks and stuff, things get a lot more serious and a lot more high-profile. Even if he does send you a fake check, you shouldn't be in any trouble. Simply deposit it, but leave the money where it is. If the bank comes back in a week or so and tells you the check is fake, just return the money and give them as much information as you have about whoever sent it to you. |

First Rule, Don't trust anyone on the internet, As for the address they could write any address down they want and it will get to as long as yours is right, if so just throw them away, they will stop if there's nothing in it for them, Don't feel to bad alot more people have lost alot more, don't ask me how I know that. |
