Question: Do muslims see education as a western ideal and this is why they don’t educate their children?

Actually, Iraq had an excellent educational system and women could attend college there (as well as vote) until the latest U.S. overthrow of a foreign government.

No my love it is incumbent on every muslim to seek out knowledge, this is a command from allah. allah speaks of the wisdom received from study "by the pen! which has taught man that which he did not know... " and the university system was founded by muslims... and the "age of enlightenment " from the "dark ages " was information recieved by western europe from the muslim world... so maybe it is you who should work on your education before asking such biased questions. those muslims who do not educate their children may be either: 1. ignorant of their religion, therefore they are not to be used as an example of muslims 2. forced by circumstance i.e. poverty for their children to work at an early age any hey, considering the state of the world today, it's highly possible that those in these situations are there because of western imperialism... or maybe you mean "educate their children in the ways of western superiority "? if so, you need to improve your appreciation of other cultures and their values, we are not all about blue jeans and coca cola
